Why Beltline Residents Choose Curio Counselling

Living in the Beltline means living densely — small condos, demanding careers, long workdays, and a social pace that doesn't always leave room for processing what you're actually feeling. Curio was built for this. We're a Beltline practice, not a downtown firm with a Calgary address — most of our clients can walk to their session in under fifteen minutes. That proximity changes the math on consistency: when therapy is two blocks away, you actually go.

We match each client with a therapist whose clinical training, lived experience, and approach fits what you're actually working on — not whoever happened to have an open slot.

A Walkable Office in the Heart of the Beltline

Curio Counselling is located at 1414 8 St SW, Suite 200 — inside Mount Royal Place, between 14th and 15th Avenue SW. Most Beltline residents can walk to us from condos along 4th Street, 17th Ave, 11th Ave, and 14th Street SW. The 8 Street MAX Purple line stops within a five-minute walk, and there's pay parking at Vibe Lot 75 directly behind the building, plus free 2-hour street parking on most surrounding blocks.

Evening & Weekend Appointments for Beltline Professionals

Most Beltline residents work the kind of jobs that don't pause for a 2pm therapy session. We offer evenings and Saturday hours specifically so therapy can fit a real career schedule — not be sacrificed to it. If you'd rather skip the elevator-and-coat-rack routine entirely, every Curio therapist also offers secure video and phone sessions on PIPEDA-compliant platforms.

Support for the Pressures Beltline Life Actually Brings

The presenting concerns we see most from Beltline clients are pattern-recognizable: high-functioning anxiety, work burnout, dating fatigue, relationship strain inside small shared spaces, loneliness despite being surrounded by people, and the slow erosion of identity that can happen when work becomes most of what you have. Our therapists work with these realities directly — not around them.

In-Person, Online, and Phone Therapy Sessions

Even when your office is around the corner, life happens — travel weeks, sick days, deadline crunches. Curio clients can switch between in-person, secure video, and phone sessions week-to-week without losing continuity with their therapist. That flexibility is part of what makes therapy actually stick.

Mission, Cliff Bungalow & Erlton

Our office at 1414 8 St SW sits a short walk — or a five-minute drive — across the Elbow River from 4th Street, Cliff Bungalow and Erlton. Mission clients are close enough that in-person sessions stay realistic year-round, and the 8 Street MAX Purple stop is a four-minute walk for anyone arriving by transit. Whether you are looking for a counselling therapist in the Beltline or in Mission, you are booking into the same office and the same team: registered psychologists and certified counsellors offering individual, couples, family and trauma-focused therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions — Counselling in the Beltline

Is Curio Counselling actually in the Beltline?

Yes. Our office at 1414 8 St SW, Suite 200 is inside Mount Royal Place, in the southwestern corner of the Beltline — bordering Lower Mount Royal. We're walking distance from 17th Ave, 4th Street, Connaught, and most condos west of 11th Street SW.

How much does counselling cost in Calgary at Curio?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes. Rates are $200 per session with our Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCCs) and Counselling Therapists (CTs); rates with our Registered Psychologists align with the Psychologists' Association of Alberta fee schedule. Calgary therapy fees typically range $160–$235 per session — our rates sit at the accessible end of the range for credentialed clinicians. Alberta Health Care does not cover private therapy, but most extended health benefit plans reimburse some or all of the cost.

Does my insurance cover therapy?

Most extended health benefit plans in Alberta cover counselling. Registered Psychologists are typically covered by all major insurers; Canadian Certified Counsellors and Counselling Therapists are covered by a growing number of plans including Canada Life, Manulife, Sun Life, Greenshield, and Blue Cross. We provide insurance-ready receipts after every session. We recommend confirming your annual maximum and which credentials your plan covers before booking.

Where do I park?

Vibe Parking Lot 75 sits directly behind Mount Royal Place (avoid spots designated for businesses). There's free 2-hour parking on most blocks of 14th and 15th Ave SW, with some ParkPlus pay zones closer to 8 Street. Free after 6pm weekdays and after 6pm Saturdays.

Do you offer evening or Saturday appointments?

Yes. We offer evening sessions during the week and Saturday hours specifically to accommodate Beltline professionals' schedules.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person for Beltline residents?

For most concerns — including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, and life transitions — research consistently shows that online counselling produces outcomes comparable to in-person therapy. Many Beltline clients mix formats week to week. The biggest predictor of outcome isn't the format, it's the strength of the therapeutic relationship and how consistently you attend.

What's your cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule without charge. Late cancellations are billed at the full session fee, as the time has been reserved specifically for you. Emergencies happen — please reach out to your therapist directly if you're in an unexpected situation.
