“Taking the counselling journey can require courage. I commend you for taking the first step and know that with the strength of our relationship we can overcome whatever is holding you back to create a brighter and more hopeful future.”

About Me

My focus when counselling is to remain as other-focused as possible and help people dive as deeply into their experiences as they feel comfortable with. Through this process, I can understand who you are, what your needs are, and provide you with the support and skills you need to thrive. It always brings me a deep sense of satisfaction to be involved in a process that helps others dramatically improve their lives.

My main theoretical background is psychodynamic therapy, which aims to explore the ideas you have about yourself and the people in your life. As this discussion unfolds, I provide a new perspective that helps you reclaim your strengths, discover your values, and work towards practical solutions. My naturally creative mind enjoys reading between the lines to provide an original perspective for people to consider. I truly find people fascinating, and I enjoy getting to understand them at whatever depth they feel comfortable with.

For over 10 years I have dedicated my life to supporting people with mental health struggles. A large portion of this work was spent in community mental health, where I learned how to develop lasting relationships with people struggling with serious mental health concerns. This experience allowed me to develop an ear for understanding the mental health needs of others, as well as how to provide ongoing emotional support. I see my work as a counsellor as an extension of this work, but one where I can provide more individually-focused, and powerful, interventions.

In addition to my theoretical background, I also enjoy a robust mindfulness practice that greatly helps me in my practice. You will find my ability to create a calm and safe environment will allow you to be open about difficult things. Negative experiences in our lives can often be internalized in ways that can be uncomfortable to share with others. However, my open- mindedness will allow us to approach these experiences in a way that makes you feel comfortable and engaged in creating a new meaning.

The main issue I work with is developmental trauma, but my approach is useful for finding meaning and understanding through many kinds of adverse life events like grief, relationship problems, dysfunctional family dynamics, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and men’s issues.
