About Me

My passion is helping and supporting children, youth, families and individuals in navigating the challenges of life. I believe all people have the capacity to find healing and discover hope when given the opportunity and tools to uncover what already exist inside of them – the power to change and grow. I view the therapeutic process as a collaborative journey through which the client is the expert of their life and I am privileged to join their journey to give
support, clarity and guidance.

Through person-centered and strengths based approaches, I meet each person where they are at, paying attention to how
their mind, body and soul combine to make a whole. While working with children and teens, I often use play-based approaches to provide opportunities to explore experiences and emotions in a creative and safe way, while also relying on the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for change. I may use modalities like sandtray, which are also impactful strategies for adults, allowing access to the subconscious. I am also trained in ART (accelerated resolution therapy) to support clients in working through trauma.

I have over 20 years of experience working with children, youth, and families in the non-profit sector. I am drawn to collaborative care, and have worked closely with professionals of many different disciplines. I have experience as a behavioral therapist and love supporting parents in their crucial and challenging job of raising children. I believe that in order to support a child, the family and parents also need to be supported.

Credentials and Ethics: I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I am also in the process of becoming a Certified Play Therapist, with membership with the Canadian Association of Play Therapy. I adhere to the CCPA Code of Ethics and the CCPA Standards of Practice. I hold a Master’s Degree in Human Development Counselling from the University of Illinois, and an Undergraduate Degree in Child and Youth Counselling from the University of Victoria.
