for Youth and Children
It can be hard to know when or if your child or teen could benefit from professional counselling. Whether they require support with daily functioning or have experienced serious trauma, our counsellors can help.
Our Calgary counsellors have extensive experience working with children and youth and are passionate about providing developmentally-appropriate mental health counselling for kids and teens between the ages of 2 and 17.
Child Counselling Calgary
Children often have trouble accurately communicating their challenges with words. If they are distressed or feel unsafe, they will struggle even more to share what’s on their minds.
Using a foundation of play, our counsellors are able to connect with children in a way that fosters safety and fun. In this environment, children begin to open up and communicate through play.
Using stories, art, games, movement, puppets, toys, music, and more, children are able to share their particular challenges as well as learn how to manage them.
Youth Counselling Calgary
Teens have a lot to navigate and may require additional support outside home and school to understand their unique challenges.
Our counsellors understand the necessity of creating a foundation of trust when providing adolescent counselling and will take the time to get to know the youth they work with.
Our therapists will work with each teen client to determine which therapeutic styles and approaches will best support them. As such, counselling sessions may include elements of various therapeutic approaches, including play therapy, expressive arts therapy, talk therapy, and/or somatic (body-based) therapy.
Some of the therapeutic approaches our child and youth therapists may borrow from include:
- Play Therapy
- Therapy (CBT)

- Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
