Our group counsellors are not only trained in the areas of concern and various therapeutic approaches, but in the process of group therapy itself. They can assist the group with group dynamic navigation, conflict resolution, and finding cohesion to promote healing.
Therapy for All
Group therapy can provide you with a safe space to explore your own identity and concerns within the context of a supportive community.
Group therapy allows you to explore many of the same concerns as individual therapy but differs in that the relationships within the group itself can provide you with validation, connection, normalization, and healing.
In group therapy, the counsellor acts as a facilitator for learning and exploration of specific topics that allows the group to find resources within themselves. One aspect of group therapy that people can find beneficial is being in the same space as others who are experiencing very similar concerns or situations.
Being with a group of people that “get it” and working toward your goals together can be comforting, inspiring, and meaningful.
Another added benefit of group therapy is that it can be a more affordable option for people seeking professional mental health support.
We offer two types of group therapy:
Process-Based Group Therapy
This type of therapy offers a closed group (meaning you will meet with the same participants and counsellors each session) for a specific number of sessions.
This allows for increased connections, comfort, and deeper processing.
Each session may include specific topics, activities, education, and opportunities for discussion and therapeutic processing.
Drop-In Group Therapy
This type of therapy offers flexibility for participants to drop in to as many or as few sessions as they like.
Drop-in sessions are ongoing and are offered regularly (e.g. once per month).
There may be a specific focus for each session, with opportunities for discussion and therapeutic processing.
Therapy Topics Covered
We are currently offering the following group:
Grief & Loss Drop-In Group Therapy
This group is a safe space for those who have experienced grief and loss to learn, process, explore, discuss, and connect with a supportive community, facilitated by members of our counselling team.
Each session will have some helpful information about grief and loss, discussion questions, and activities or coping strategies to explore.
